Covid-19: Corona gained momentum due to XBB.1.16 in the country! Know how dangerous this variant is and what are its symptoms?

XBB.1.16 Variant: Once again in India Corona virus is gaining momentum. In many states including Kerala, Delhi, Maharashtra, the cases of Kovid-19 infection are increasing rapidly. Now the question arises that why the cases of corona are increasing so fast. In fact, the biggest reason for the increase in cases is being attributed to a new variant of Kovid. In the last 24 hours, more than 5000 new Kovid cases have been reported in India. The XBB.1.16 variant of Omicron has been held responsible for the sudden increase in Covid cases in the country. The World Health Organization (WHO) is closely monitoring this sub-variant (XBB.1.16) of Covid. 

What are the symptoms of the XBB.1.16 variant?

During a March 29 press conference, WHO’s Kovid-19 Technical Lead Maria Van Kerkhove had said that XBB.1.16 has replaced all other variants in India. Symptoms of the XBB.1.16 variant include fever, which begins to rise slowly and lasts for at least 1-2 days. Apart from this, sore throat, body ache, headache and stomach problems are also symptoms of this variant. All these symptoms are so common that you may not even realize that you are suffering from this variant. Therefore, whenever you start seeing these symptoms in your body or become more troubling, immediately consult a doctor. 

How dangerous is this variant?

Due to the XBB.1.16 variant, however, no serious problem is seen. However, it can also prove dangerous for people already suffering from some disease and suffering from respiratory problems. That’s why such people need to take special care of themselves. Because even a small negligence can cause a risk of life. According to a circular of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, patients of Kovid-19 should remain in isolation at home.

How to protect yourself?

It has also been said in the circular that even at home, such people should take care of some important things like social distancing, use of masks, hand hygiene and hydration, antipyretics, antitussives. Apart from this, patients should also check their body temperature and oxygen saturation from time to time. According to a report, the XBB.1.16 variant was seen in 98 percent of the samples taken from corona-infected patients in Delhi. Although the XBB.1.16 variant is not very dangerous, but it spreads very fast. Common symptoms like cough and cold are also seen in patients infected with this variant.
