Shah narrated the story of Lakshadweep joining India
Recalling the contribution of Sardar Patel in the efforts to unite India after independence, Shah said that it was only because of his efforts that Lakshadweep could become an integral part of India. Shah said, ‘When India got independence on August 15, Sardar Saheb sent the Indian Navy’s ship Tir to Lakshadweep. A few hours after the Indian Navy hoisted the tricolor there, Pakistan ships also reached there. But by then the tricolor had already been hoisted there. In this way Lakshadweep could become a part of India and a large part of India’s coastline is protected from there.

Shah said that Kevadiya, where the 182-metre-tall ‘Statue of Unity’ is located, has become a place of pilgrimage for India’s unity, nationalism and patriotism. He said that through this statue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid true tribute to Sardar Patel and he conceived the world’s tallest statue.
