UPSC Prelims 2024 Syllabus: UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2024 will be held on June 16, 2024. Earlier this examination was scheduled to be held on May 26, but due to the Lok Sabha election schedule, the Commission had postponed the date of the examination. , As per UPSC CSE Exam Centers 2024, the preliminary exam will be conducted in 80 exam centres. Let us tell you, through this recruitment examination, a total of 1,056 vacancies will be filled. Out of which 40 vacancies are reserved for PwPD category candidates. Candidates who are preparing for UPSC exam or intend to appear for the exam in future have to cover a number of topics to clear the preliminary exam. First of all, let us tell you that two papers are conducted in UPSC Prelims. These papers are, General Studies Paper – I, General Studies Paper II. It is also known as CSAT or Civil Services Aptitude Test. Two hours will be given to solve each paper.

UPSC Preliminary is conducted in offline mode, in which candidates have to use paper and pen. Let us tell you, in these papers questions related to history, geography, economics, politics, environment, science and current affairs and other subjects are asked. According to the UPSC IAS exam pattern, negative marking of 0.33% marks is also done for each wrong answer. Question papers will be set in both Hindi and English. Therefore, candidates will have to be very careful while marking the answers.

It is mandatory for the candidates who want to achieve higher posts like IAS, IPS, IFS, to appear in the preliminary examination. This examination is the first step to reach these posts. Only after clearing this a candidate reaches the next stage. As we have told you that there are two papers in this examination (General Studies Paper – I, General Studies Paper II), so it is mandatory to appear in both these papers. If a candidate does not appear in both the papers of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination he will be disqualified.

Questions will be asked from these topics in UPSC Preliminary Exam in General Studies Paper – I.

– First of all, General Studies Paper – I will be conducted for a total of 200 marks. Candidates will be given 2 hours to complete the paper. In these two hours, questions will be asked from the following topics.

– Current events of national and international importance

-History of India and Indian National Movement.

– Indian and World Geography-Physical, social, economic geography of India and the world.

-Indian Politics and Governance-Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.

– Economic and social development-sustainable development, poverty, inclusion, demography, social sector initiatives, etc.

-General issues on environmental ecology, biodiversity and climate change – which do not require subject expertise.

– General Science

Questions will be asked from these topics in UPSC Preliminary Exam in General Studies Paper-II.

Paper II of the Preliminary Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks of 33%. Apart from this, questions will be asked of objective type. Paper II will also be of 200 marks and two hours will be given to solve this paper.

– Decision Making and Problem Solving

– General Mental Ability

– Basic Numeracy (Numbers and Relation, Order of Magnificence (Class X Level), Data Interpretation (Charts, Graphs, Tables), Data Sufficiency (Class X Level) will be asked.
