Anil Basak is originally a resident of Kishanganj, Bihar. His father was a local cloth seller. His story even today inspires many candidates who are preparing for competitive exams.

It took some time for Anil to become an IAS officer. However, he failed to clear the pre-examination in his first attempt and secured 616th rank in his second attempt. Even after this, he continued his efforts and did not allow himself to give up. He appeared in the UPSC Civil Services Examination for the third time and secured All India Rank 45th.

Let us tell you, his father Binod Basak earlier used to sell clothes by roaming from village to village. His father's life was extremely challenging. Anil wanted his father to stop struggling. Anil is the second member of the entire family to pass class 10th. He is the first member of his family to pass the UPSC exam.

Anil has completed his schooling from Kishanganj. After this he started preparing for IIT JEE. He had given 2 attempts in JEE exam and in his second attempt, i.e. year 2014, Anil was selected for Civil Engineering course in IIT Delhi.

He started his UPSC preparation when he was in the first semester of the third year of engineering. He could not clear the UPSC Prelims exam in his first attempt in the year. In the year 2019, he gave his second attempt and secured 616th rank and joined IRS IT. Although his dream was to become an IAS officer. After which he decided that he would appear in the UPSC examination for the third time. Let us tell you, he joined the National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT) in Nagpur on December 28, 2020. Then the Mains exam for UPSC 2020 was to be held on January 8, 2021. After which Anil resigned from IRS IT and gave full focus to UPSC exam. Ultimately he was successful in becoming an IAS officer in his third attempt.
