Today we are going to talk about IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma, who failed in class 12th, but did not give up and became an IPS officer by clearing one of the toughest examinations in the country. His success story is very interesting. Let’s know about them.
Manoj Sharma hails from Morena district of Madhya Pradesh. He wanted to become an IAS officer since childhood, but he failed in 12th during school. Not only this, he got third division in class 9 and 10. Manoj had failed in all subjects except Hindi in class 12th. However, despite several setbacks, Manoj did not lose faith in himself. He did not give up on his goal and also started preparing for the toughest exam of the country – UPSC.
Manoj has written his story in a book called ‘Twelfth Fail’. In this, he says that during his studies he also ran a tempo to stay in Gwalior. His financial condition was so bad that his house did not even have a roof. Because of this he also had to sleep with beggars, but his hard struggle helped him to succeed. He worked as a library peon in Delhi, during which he read about many great people ranging from Gorky and Abraham Lincoln. After reading these books he got to know the real aspects of life.
Manoj fell in love with a girl while studying in class 12th but he could never express his love. He was afraid of unrequited love. In the end he proposed to the girl saying, “You say yes, and we will turn the whole world around.” During UPSC preparation, he got a lot of support from his wife Shraddha, she was his girlfriend earlier. His wife Shraddha is also an officer of the Indian Revenue Service.
After this Manoj worked hard and appeared in UPSC exam and got success. He became IPS in 2005 from Maharashtra cadre. He is currently posted as Additional Commissioner, West Zone in Mumbai.
