CUET UG: Admission into DU, BHU, JNU from one exam

There are a total of 56 Central Universities in India in different states maintained by the Central Government. The names of many prestigious universities of the country including Delhi University, Aligarh Muslim University, Banaras Hindu University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Nalanda University are included in this list. A few years ago, the government has arranged for a single entrance test for admission to undergraduate courses in all the above mentioned Central Universities, which is called CUET-UG i.e. Common University Entrance Test (Undergraduate). Online applications for this examination, which will be taken in hybrid mode i.e. both computer-based and pen-paper, are accepted till the last week of March. This time, apart from the country, this examination will also be conducted in more than 50 foreign countries. After the application, the examination will be conducted in the month of May. I will complete graduation from History this year. Should I do post graduation from this subject or Archaeology? In which field career will be better? -Nandu Prakash

After graduation from History subject, MA in History and MA in Archaeology, both these courses have their own advantages. You have to assess your capacity and efficiency. Undergraduate and postgraduate courses in History are offered in most of the universities, hence, after doing MA in History, you can make a career as an Assistant Professor by doing UGC NET or PhD, whereas, for the students who have passed MA in Archaeology, the Government of India's Culture Appointments to various posts are made by the Archaeological Survey of India under the ministry. The job of an archaeologist is to study and document old elements, manuscripts and discoveries. There are work opportunities for such experts both in the country and abroad.
