Respected Principal Sir, teachers and my dear friends

Best wishes to all of you on Children’s Day. Today the whole country is remembering the first Prime Minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and paying tribute to him. Today is 14th November and this day is celebrated as Children’s Day in the country. 14th November is the birthday of Pandit Nehru, the great freedom fighter of India and the creator of modern India. Jawaharlal Nehru loved children very much. Children also used to call him Chacha Nehru. Therefore, in his honour, every year 14th November i.e. his birth anniversary is celebrated as Children’s Day. Today we all have gathered here to celebrate Children’s Day.

Friends, Pandit Nehru used to say – ‘Today’s children will build tomorrow’s India. Children are the future of this country. Therefore, it is important that special attention is paid to their education and welfare. The better we take care of children, the better the nation building will be.

Organizing Children’s Day celebration tells the importance of children in building the future of the country. Children are the valuable assets of the nation as well as the hope of the future and tomorrow, hence they should get proper care and love.

After India’s independence, the government has made many plans for the development of children, their education and health. But even today many children do not get their rights. The meaning of Children’s Day cannot be fully meaningful until every child in our country gets his fundamental child rights. Child exploitation and child labor must be completely eliminated. No child should be deprived of education due to financial reasons. The benefits of all the schemes running for child welfare should reach the children. On the occasion of Children’s Day, we all should come together to spread awareness about child rights.

Apart from this, we all should also take a pledge to implement the ideas of Chacha Nehru in life. We learn a lot from his free-thinking and fearless leadership. Nehru’s biggest work as a politician was to develop democratic values in the Indian political system and establish democracy in India. Nehru was a strong supporter of the theory and practice of parliamentary democracy. He used to say that citizenship lies in service to the country. Ignorance is always afraid of change. He believed that failure comes only when we forget our ideals, objectives and principles.

Now I would like to conclude my speech. Thank you all very much for listening to my views on Children’s Day and Chacha Nehru.

Long live Mother India. Jai Hind. Victory to India.
