Indian Railways: Indian Railways earns huge income from freight transportation, revenue of so many lakh crores in the first 9 months of 2023-24

Indian Railways is earning handsomely from the transportation of goods. Railways' earnings from transportation of goods have crossed Rs 1 lakh crore in the first nine months of the current financial year. This information has been found in the official data.

So much freight in the first 9 months

According to the data, during the first nine months during the current financial year i.e. from April 2023 to December 2023, Indian Railways Transported 1,154.67 million tonnes of goods. This is 4.1 percent more than the same period last year. In the first nine months of the last financial year, the Railways had transported 1,109.38 million tonnes of goods.

The earnings of the Railways have increased by this much.

During this period, the Indian Railways has earned Rs. Earnings have also increased. During the first nine months of the financial year 2022-23, Railways had earned Rs 1.20 lakh crore from the transportation of goods. This earning of Railways during the current financial year till the month of December has been Rs 1.25 lakh crore. If seen in this way, in the first nine months of the current financial year, Railways' freight earnings have increased by 3.84 percent as compared to the same period a year ago.

The figure also improved in December

The figure of earnings from transportation and transportation has also improved during the month of December. In December 2023, Indian Railways transported 138.99 million tonnes of freight and earned revenue of Rs 15,097.61 crore. Whereas a year ago i.e. in December 2022, Railways had transported 130.66 million tonnes of goods, from which it had earned Rs 14,574.25 crore.

The highest transportation of goods

Indian Railways. Coal and iron ore are at the forefront in transportation. During the month of December, Indian Railways transported 69 million tonnes of coal. Whereas the Railways transported 16.54 million tonnes of iron ore.

Apart from this, Railways also earns money from operation of passenger trains, sale of scrap etc. The Government of India is working on infrastructure to ensure faster transportation of goods. Under this, separate freight corridors have been created by the Railways on many routes.
