Freebies Culture: Infosys founder Narayana Murthy is against giving freebies, said – contribution should be taken in return of giving subsidy.

Freebies Culture: Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy has given a big statement on the freebies culture of the government and political parties. He has asked political parties and the government to stop the practice of giving anything free to the people. NR Narayana Murthy suggested that people who take government facilities and subsidies should contribute their bit to improve the society. Supporting capitalism, he said that this is the only means through which a country like India can progress.

This is not the first time that Narayana Murthy has given a controversial statement. Earlier he had said that the youth should work 70 hours a week, which caused a lot of uproar. According to a report in Mint, while addressing the 26th edition of Bengaluru Tech Summit 2023 on Wednesday, NR Narayana Murthy said, when you provide a service or subsidy, you should take something in return from the beneficiaries. Giving an example, he said, if you say that I will provide free electricity, then in return the attendance of students in primary and middle schools should increase by 20 percent, only then this facility can be provided.

< p style="text-align: justify;">NR Narayana Murthy said he is not against providing free services. He stressed the importance of giving subsidy to the poor and the underprivileged. He said, I am not against providing free services. I understand this because I also come from a poverty background. But the people who are being given subsidy should take something in return so that a better future can be created for their children.

Narayan Murthy also supported collecting higher taxes in a country like India. He said, for better, corruption-free and effective public goods in our country, higher taxes should be collected in comparison to developed countries. He said, if I have to pay more tax, I personally will not have any complaint.
