5.6 billion dollars worth of shopping was done on Thanksgiving Day 

On Thanksgiving Day, people made purchases worth $5.6 billion, which is 5.5 percent more than last year. This enthusiasm was also visible in the Black Friday sale. Experts have estimated that this figure could reach $10 billion on Saturday and Sunday and $12 billion on Cyber ​​Monday.

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving Day in the United States. It falls on the fourth Thursday of November. It is also considered the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. Many types of offers and discounts are available on Black Friday. This year Black Friday was celebrated on 24 November. Now it is celebrated all over the world. On this day shops open early and remain open till late night. It is believed that shopkeepers do not suffer any loss on Black Friday. 

It got its name from the police 

In the 1950s, police in Philadelphia coined the term ‘Black Friday’ to describe the lawlessness of the day after Thanksgiving. The word was used. At that time hundreds of tourists used to come to the city to watch football matches. Also, there used to be long queues outside the shops of the city. This caused problems to the police. Many businessmen tried to name it ‘Big Friday’ in 1961, but it could not happen. Black Friday started being celebrated all over the world from the year 2013.
