Government Schemes for Women: Central and state governments keep launching many types of schemes for women empowerment. State governments from Delhi to Himachal have announced to give cash amount to women every month. Even before this, many other state governments are giving a fixed amount to women every month.
Chief Minister Mahila Samman Yojana
The Arvind Kejriwal government of Delhi has announced to give Rs 1,000 every month for women above 18 years of age. The name of this scheme is Chief Minister Mahila Samman Yojana. The benefit of this scheme can be availed by all those women who are above 18 years of age and have Delhi identity card. The government has kept women working in government jobs, pension and paying income tax out of this scheme.

To empower women, Karnataka government has started Griha Lakshmi Yojana. Under this scheme, the state government gives Rs 2-2 thousand every month to the female head. The state government started this scheme after winning the Karnataka elections last year. The government claims that through this, more than 1 crore women of the state are getting the benefits of the scheme. Madhya Pradesh government is running a scheme named Ladli Brahmin Yojana to make the women of the state self-reliant. Under this scheme, the state government transfers Rs 1250 every month to the accounts of women. The benefit of this scheme is available to women having identity card of Madhya Pradesh. The government gives this money for nutrition, health and financial help to women. Women aged between 21 to 60 years can avail the benefit of this scheme. Chhattisgarh government is also running Mahtari Vandan Yojana for women. Under this scheme, the state government gives a benefit of Rs 1000 every month to women. The benefit of this scheme is being given to the native women of the state. West Bengal government is running Lakshmi Bhandar Scheme for women. Under this scheme, the state government provides financial assistance of Rs 1000 per month. The female head of the family can take advantage of this scheme.
