15 terrorists killed in separate operations in Balochistan

Quetta, Oct 24 (PTI) Security forces in Pakistan on Saturday killed 15 militants of banned separatist organizations in two separate operations in the restive Balochistan province. Officials gave this information.

A spokesman of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) said that nine terrorists of different proscribed outfits were gunned down in the Mastung area of ​​Balochistan and a huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from them.

In another search operation in Harnai district of the province, security forces killed six terrorists, including a Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) commander.

A CTD spokesperson said the nine slain militants belonged to the BLA, Baloch Liberation Front and United Baloch Army and were hiding in Roshi, a mountainous area in Mastung. “These terrorists were planning to carry out attacks in Quetta after taking training in Roshi. The training camp was also demolished by the police forces.

The BLA and the Baloch Liberation Front have claimed responsibility for several terrorist attacks on security forces, police and security installations in the province in recent months.

In another search operation by security forces in the area near Harnai, six terrorists, including BLA commander Tariq alias Nasir, were killed. The Media Affairs Wing (ISPR) of the Army gave this information on Saturday.

“As the security forces cordoned off the hideouts, the terrorists started heavy firing and tried to flee the area but in a fierce encounter, six terrorists including BLA Commander Tariq alias Nasir were killed,” the ISPR said in a statement.

A huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the hideout, the statement said.
