Soon non-followers will be able to send only one message request a day. The message will also be in text format only. This will not include video and photo. Means now you will get rid of the messages coming suddenly and spam etc. will not come. The company started working on this feature from June, which is now in the final stage. Meta can launch it soon. We want people to feel confident and in control when they open their inbox, Cindy Southworth, head of women’s safety at Meta, said in an email. The company already has features to protect against abuse and inappropriate contacts. The new DMs restriction will keep people safer on the platform.

Instagram has a ‘Hidden Words’ setting that automatically forwards DM requests containing offensive words, phrases and emojis to a hidden folder. With this you do not have to see useless messages. Similarly, the app also has a ‘Limits’ feature that protects users from unwanted comments or a sudden increase in DM requests.
Let me tell you, like Instagram, Elon Musk has recently given the facility to verified users in X that they can put a limit on DMs. Users can decide who can send them messages.
