Arrest of BSF jawan from Bhuj, was sending secret information to Pakistan

Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad has arrested a Border Security Force jawan on duty in Bhuj Battalion. In the case, the ATS said on Monday that the BSF jawan was acting as a spy for Pakistan, and was sending secret and sensitive information to the neighboring country through WhatsApp.

Arrested from BSF headquarters in Bhuj

The ATS said the accused BSF jawan was identified as Mohammad Sijjad. He is a native of Sarola village in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. And was deployed in July 2021 at 74 BSF Battalion in Bhuj. Sajjad was arrested from the BSF headquarters in Bhuj. Sajjad joined the BSF in 2012 as a constable.

Stayed in Pakistan for 46 days

The ATS said he was receiving money for intelligence, and that he was transferring the money to the accounts of his brother Wajid and colleague Iqbal Rashid. The ATS added that Sajjad had obtained the passport from the Jammu Passport Office. And on this passport he stayed in Pakistan for 46 days from December 1,2011 to January 16,2011. And to go to Pakistan he boarded the Samjhauta Express from Attari railway station.

Sajjad was using two phones

According to the ATS, Sajjad was using two phones. In one of those phones he last activated the SIM card during January 14-15 2021. When the call data record of this SIM card was checked, it was found that the SIM card was in the name of Satyapal Ghosh of Tripura, and it was activated for the first time on November 7, 2020. And Sajjad got two calls on this number. The number remained active until November 9. After which it remained deactivated till 25 December 2020 and after 26 December 2020 it was reactivated again.

Sent OTP number to Pakistan for WhatsApp

When the number was activated on January 15,2021, a message arrived at 12:38:51 p.m., the ATS said. And at 12.38 pm another message came on the same number, which was the OTP number for WhatsApp. He sent this OTP number to Pakistan and activated WhatsApp. And it was on this WhatsApp number that he shared secret information.

The BSF was told the wrong date of birth

WhatsApp is still active and a person based in Pakistan is using it, ATS said. The man was in touch with Sajjad, the ATS said, adding that Sajjad had given his wrong date of birth to the BSF. According to his Aadhaar card, he was born on January 1, 1992, but the date of birth in his passport is January 30, 1985. The ATS said two additional SIM cards, including two mobile phones and two SIM cards, were seized from Sajjad. And further investigation is ongoing.
