Fuel prices announced today by state-owned oil companies have risen. Today, diesel prices have gone up by 33 to 37 paise. Petrol price has been hiked by 31 to 44 paise. In many states, petrol has never exceeded a hundred. Major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai have seen a sharp rise in petrol prices. In Mumbai, petrol is being sold at Rs 114.81 per liter and diesel at Rs 105.86 per liter. In the national capital, Delhi, petrol is priced at Rs 108.99. So, diesel is being sold at Rs 97.72 per liter. In Kolkata, petrol is priced at Rs 109.46 per liter and diesel at Rs 100.84 per liter. In Chennai, petrol is being sold at Rs 105.74 per liter and diesel at Rs 101.92 per liter.

As a result, demand for low-mileage vehicles in the country with higher mileage may increase in the future, according to a report by HSBC Global Research.
