Somvar Vrat Udhyapan Vidhi and Importance: Pooja-recitation is done to please Lord Shiva and get his blessings. Monday is dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva. But for the fulfillment of any wish, devotees keep fast on Mondays. Many people observe a fast on sixteen Mondays as well. Keep fast on as many Mondays as you want. But it is necessary to do Udyapan after the wish is fulfilled or after the resolution of the fast is fulfilled.

You get the full fruit of any fast only when you observe it according to the rules and regulations. After the Monday fast, the last worship performed by remembering Lord Shiva is called Udyapan of Monday fast. However, even after Udyapan, you can resolve to observe Monday fast again.

When to observe Monday fast

You can observe Monday fast on Monday of any month. But it is considered best to observe this fast on Mondays of Sawan, Kartik, Vaishakh, Jyeshtha and Margashirsha months.

Monday fast gardening materials

Idol or picture of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati, picture of Chandradev, wooden post, Akshat, Belpatra, Paan, Betel nut, Seasonal fruits, Janeu, Roli, Molly, Incense, Camphor, Wick, Panchamrit (milk, curd, honey , ghee, sugar candy or jaggery), sandalwood, galangal water, ghee,  red cloth, flowers, naivedya and lamp. If you perform Havan, then the ingredients of Havan, ghee, barley, mango wood, black sesame and Akshat.

Monday fasting method

Along with Shivji and Mata Parvati, do worship of Chandra Dev in the beginning of Monday fast. For worship, first of all purify the place of worship by sprinkling Ganges water. Spread a red colored cloth on the wooden post and install the idol of Shiva-Parvati on it. Also keep the idol of Chandradev in a vessel. Apply sandalwood tilak to Lord Shiva and apply vermilion kumkul to Mother Parvati. Light incense-lamps. After this, offer flowers, garland, paan, betel nut, molly, janeu, naivedya and offer fruit-panchamrit. Offer Belpatra, Dhatura, Bhang to God. After this perform aarti of Lord Shiva. After worship, donate Dakshina or clothes to a Brahmin or the needy.
