Glucose testing: Whether the sugar level in pregnancy is good or not, this test will tell in a pinch

What is Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) or Two Step Test?

-ogtt-

In this test, your blood sugar is checked both on an empty stomach and on a full stomach. This gives an idea of how your body is responding to blood sugar. When a pregnant woman goes for the OGTT after the glucose screening test, it is called a two-step test.

You have to be hungry for at least 8 to 14 hours before the test for the OGTT. During this time you can take only water. Then the doctor takes your test sample.

After this, in this test you have to drink 100 grams of glucose liquid. Then the doctor takes a non-fasting sugar sample after the fasting sugar test. This sample is taken every 3 hours. If after all these tests your sugar level comes very high, it means you have gestational diabetes.
