A record number of unemployed people have registered in Bihar in the current financial year 2023-24. In just seven months, four lakh 14 thousand 235 people registered on the National Career Service (NCS) portal. This is the highest in years so far. Online registration is being done on NCS portal from the financial year 2015-16. So far, more than 1 crore 38 lakh unemployed people have registered in the country. Out of this, 13 lakh 65 thousand 769 unemployed people of Bihar have registered. This year, 35 thousand 978 unemployed people got registered in April, 36 thousand 187 in May, 42 thousand 989 in June and 48 thousand 643 in July. Maximum number of 1 lakh 32 thousand 73 unemployed people got registered in August. 71 thousand 571 unemployed people got registered in September and 46 thousand 794 unemployed people got registered in October.

Illiterates are also among those who register.

Among those registering on the portal, there are literate as well as illiterate people. Bihar has 6.95 percent of the total illiterates in the country who have registered. Similarly, 9th pass is 3.34 percent, 10th pass is 9.67 percent, 11th pass is 4.95 percent, 12th pass is 11.30 percent. Whereas after 10th, 5.97 percent have done diploma, 6.32 percent are graduate and 3.69 percent are post-graduate.

Jobs are available in employment fairs, registration is required on NCS portal

Job fairs or employment fairs are organized from time to time by the Labor Resources Department or state and central government departments and non-government companies. The most important condition in this is that it is mandatory for the unemployed to be registered on the NCS portal. Therefore, the number of unemployed people registering on the portal is increasing year after year. Given the speed at which registration is being done by the unemployed, it is expected that this number will increase further in the coming years.

Bihar government is making efforts to provide employment

Efforts are being made by the Labor Resources Department to provide employment to the unemployed. For this, planning cum guidance fair is organized at district to divisional level. Job camps are also organized. Prakash Lewis of Xavier Institute of Social Studies, Bihar Migrant Hub said that especially after Corona, people want to work in their home state. People turn to other states only when they do not get work in Bihar.
