Good news: Women's reserved posts will be filled in 762 bodies

The vacant posts reserved for women in bodies across the state will be filled by running a campaign in the new year. The Local Government Directorate has sought details of body-wise posts for this. It has been asked that how many posts are there in which category, especially how many posts of women are vacant. After receiving the details of the vacancies, a proposal for recruitment will be sent to the Subordinate Services Selection Commission and the Public Service Commission.

At present there are 762 urban bodies in the state. These include 17 Municipal Corporations, 200 Municipal Councils and 545 Nagar Panchayats. At present, about 22 percent of the population resides in these bodies. The state government wants to provide better facilities to the people living in the civic bodies. It wants to provide facility to people to deposit house tax, water tax and sewer tax sitting at home. For this, preparations are being made to fill all the vacant posts in the civic bodies. Women will be placed at every table for their support to the women who come to work in the civic bodies. Information regarding post wise vacancies has been sought from the bodies.

Where and how much work are the outsourcing workers doing?
Along with this, the civic bodies have also been asked how many outsourcing personnel are working on their posts. The reason for appointing such personnel on posts other than Group D, computer operators and cleaning workers has also been asked. Along with this, it has also been asked how much is being spent on salaries of such employees.

Civic officials will now go out on the streets from 9 to 12 at night to ensure that no one is allowed to sleep in the open. Such people should be taken to night shelters and all necessary measures should be taken there to protect themselves from cold. Urban Development Minister AK Sharma gave these instructions to the civic officials during the review on Sunday. He said, all the bodies should run permanent and temporary night shelters for the poor, destitute and homeless.
