AFCAT 2024: Applications open for recruitment to 317 posts in Air Force, Arts graduates can also become officers in IAF

AFCAT 2024 Notification: Indian Air Force has started the application process for Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT – 01/2024) 2024. Applications have been invited from unmarried male and female candidates for commissioned officer posts. There will be recruitment on 317 posts. Through this recruitment examination, recruitment will be done in the flying branch and ground duty (technical and non-technical) branch of the Indian Air Force. The application process has started today from 1st December. Interested candidates can apply online by visiting careerairforce.nic.in or afcat.cdac.in.

The examination for this recruitment will be held on 16, 17, 18 February 2024.

ground duty technical

Aeronautical Engineer (L) – 115 posts (104 for men and 11 for women)
Aeronautical Engineer (M) – 50 posts (45 for men and 5 for women)

ground duty non technical

Weapon System (WS) Branch – 17 Posts (15 for Men and 2 for Women)
Admin – 50 posts (44 for men and 6 for women)
Accounts – 13 posts (11 for men and 2 for women)
Logistics – 13 posts (11 for men and 2 for women)
Education – 10 posts (8 for men and 2 for women)
Metrology – 11 posts (9 for men and 2 for women)

Educational qualification

Flying Branch – 12th pass with 50% marks, Maths and Physics as subjects in 12th and Graduation in any subject with 60% marks.
Or
BE/B.Tech degree with 60% marks

Ground Duty (Technical) Branch

12th pass with 50% marks, it is necessary to have Maths and Physics subjects in 12th and
Four year degree/integrated post graduation in engineering.

Ground Duty (Non Technical)

Weapon System Branch – 12th pass (must have 50% marks in Maths and Physics) and graduation in any subject with 60% marks.

Administration and Logistics

– 12th pass from any stream and graduation with 60% marks in any subject.

Accounts Branch – B.Com with 60% marks or BBA/BMS/BBS with specialization in Finance or CA/ CMA/ CS/ CFA or B.Sc with specialization in Finance.

education – 12th pass from any subject. PG with 50% marks. Graduation with 60 percent marks.

Metrology – 12th pass and Post Graduate degree in Science stream/Maths/Stats/Geography/Computer Application/Environmental Science/Applied Physics/Oceanography/Metrology/Agriculture Metrology/Ecology and Environment/Geo Physics/Environmental Biology (with 50% marks).

Age Range

flying branch
AFCAT – 20 to 24 years. Age will be calculated from January 1, 2025. That means the applicant must have been born between January 2, 2001 and January 01, 2005.

Ground Duty (Technical & Non Technical) – 20 to 26 years. Age will be calculated from January 1, 2025. That means the applicant must have been born between 02 January 1999 to 01 January 2005.

There will be online AFCAT exam. Ground Duty (Technical) branch candidates will also have to appear in the Engineering Knowledge Test. Final merit will be determined on the basis of performance in both AFCAT and AFSB examinations.

exam pattern

In the 2-hour test, 100 multiple choice questions will be asked from General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability, Reasoning, Military Aptitude. The paper will be of 300 marks. The paper will be in English only. One mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Salary – Flying Officer – 56100 – 177500
