The latest case is related to Vanniyar Sangam. Sent a legal notice to Suriya, Jyothika, director TJ Gyanvel and Amazon Prime Video for tarnishing the reputation of the Vanniyar community. Following this, Suriya’s fans took to Twitter to support Jai Bheem’s team. They started trending #WeStandWithSuriya on Twitter.
Suriya’s Jai Bhim released on November 2 on Amazon Prime Video. Directed by TJ Gyanvel, the film is about the custodial torture of members of the Irular community. Initially, Hindi speaking people were troubled by a scene in which Prakash Raj can be seen slapping a man for speaking in Hindi. Pa Ranjith was the first director to express his support to Suriya.

Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) Legal Wing Chief Advocate Balu mentioned in the legal notice that according to Pu Tha Arulmozhi (State President of Vanniyar Sangam) certain scenes in Jai Bheem defame the Vanniyar community. Vanniyar Sangam demanded removal of the objectionable scene and Rs 5 crore as compensation within a week. The notice asked the team to immediately stop publishing false, malicious and defamatory comments against the community.”

There is also another good news for the fans of Suriya and fans of Tamil cinema. Both Jai Bheem and Soorarai Potru have made it to IMDb’s top-rated 250 movies. Only eight Indian films have managed to make it to this ever-changing list, of which three are Aamir Khan-starrers. Jai Bhim has got 120 rank.
