The story of Benno begins from his childhood, where he courageously faces the challenges of being visually impaired. Moreover, he never let these challenges come in the way of his goals.

IFS officer Beno Zefin was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His father is a railway employee and his mother is a housewife. Talking about his educational qualification, he has obtained a Master's degree in English Literature. Interestingly, while preparing for the Civil Services Examinations, he also worked as a Probationary Officer in the State Bank of India (SBI).

Beno Zefin was smart from the beginning and always gave priority to her career. He had made up his mind to join civil services since his school days. When he told this to his parents, Benno got a lot of support from them. Now it was not easy to study without seeing. For this he prepared by reading books written in Braille script. She learned and understood her subjects by listening to them on the internet. Beno had told in an interview that wherever I have been able to reach today, the full credit for it goes to my parents.

Beno Zefin had given the UPAC Prelims and Mains examination in the year 2013. Eventually all the hard work paid off and in June 2014, Benno passed the UPSC exam. In which he had secured 343rd rank. Let us tell you, Benno Zefeen is the first blind woman to join the Indian Foreign Service (IFS).
