These 5 major changes in various competitive examinations of UPPSC, RPSC, BPSC in the year 2023

Changes in UPPSC PCS, RPSC RAS, BPSC Exams: The year 2023 is passing. The new year 2024 is going to knock in a few days. If we look at the achievements and special events of the last year, we will find that it proved to be a very transformative year for the youth preparing for competitive exams. Many changes have been made in the competitive examinations of other institutions including Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC), Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) and Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). Here we are telling you about 5 major changes in the competitive examinations of these institutes so that you can make further strategies keeping these changes in mind in 2023 and perform better in the upcoming examinations. So let us know about 5 big changes-

1- B.Ed qualification invalid in primary teacher recruitment:

The biggest change of 2023 was the invalidation of B.Ed qualification for teacher recruitment level-1. In August 2023, the Supreme Court, while giving an important decision in the Rajasthan teacher recruitment case, declared the B.Ed qualification invalid in primary teacher recruitment. After which NCERT issued a notice to the states urging them to implement the Supreme Court order. As a result, B.Ed pass candidates were left out of primary teacher recruitment in other states including BPSC. Now only D.El.Ed pass candidates can apply for primary teacher recruitment. B.Ed candidates can apply for upper primary school or secondary schools only.

2- Fifth option added in RPSC RAS exam:

Rajasthan Public Service Commission, in a notice issued on September 11, 2023, said that along with 4 options, a fifth option will also be added in the multiple choice (MCQ type) examinations to be conducted on OMR seat. This rule has been implemented in many state level examinations including RAS. The Commission has said that those who do not select any of the four options in the question will have to choose the fifth option. Action like cancellation of application will also be taken against the candidates who do not choose the fifth option in more than 10 percent of the questions. However, in the recent examination, candidates were given additional time of 10 minutes for this work.

3- Optional subject removed from PCS exam:

The second biggest change of 2023 is that in place of optional subject from the PCS examination of Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission, two more question papers of General Studies of UP Special have been added. This rule has come into effect from the PCS 2023 exam released on January 1, 2023. With this, the discrimination of candidates with maths or engineering background getting more marks in the main examination has ended.

4- TGT-PGT Recruitment in UP now from Education Service Selection Commission:

The recruitment of TGT and PGT teachers in secondary schools in Uttar Pradesh will be done through the recently constituted Education Services Selection Commission. Earlier, recruitment to these posts was done through Secondary Education Service Selection Commission (UPSESSB). Whereas in higher education, recruitment of assistant professors etc. was done through UPHESC, which will now be under the responsibility of the Education Commission.

5- There will be one paper instead of two in BPSC teacher recruitment exam:

Bihar Public Service Commission took a lesson from the first phase of teacher recruitment and, keeping in mind the convenience of the candidates, eliminated the two-day examination and condensed it into one paper. This saves time for the candidates and they also do not have to face the problem of night halt. The Commission prepared one paper instead of three papers by preparing a formula of 30, 40, 80 questions for language, general studies and main subject respectively in a single question paper. Now the teacher recruitment examination of the Commission is being conducted with this change. It is expected that this change of the Commission will remain in effect in future also.
