The budget was passed without discussion amidst uproar
Yes, the answer to the question of budget for 2023-24 was option B and it was worth Rs 45.03 lakh crore. Although everything was expected to be settled smoothly in the budget this year, but due to strong opposition from both the parties in the Lok Sabha, all the time of the second phase of the budget session was wasted and this was one of the rare occasions, when the budget Passed without any discussion. That is, like every time, there was no discussion on the merits and demerits of the proposals. Even if there was an uproar, it was completely on a non-budgetary issue. And finally the Union Budget for the financial year starting April 01 was approved without any discussion. The reason for the uproar was the JPC investigation into the allegations against Adani Group. Every attempt to maintain order in the House failed. Not only this, another tradition was broken in this year's budget in the House. This time the Lok Sabha did not even discuss the demands for grants of the identified ministries. Finally the Business Advisory Committee had approved the discussion on the ministries of Railways, Rural Development, Health and Family Welfare, Panchayati Raj, Tribal Affairs and Tourism and Culture.
