Now you will not be able to become a pharmacist after completing only Diploma in Pharmacy. The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has banned the registration of students enrolled in the Diploma in Pharmacy course last year (2022-23) who will pass out in the session 2023-24. PCI has clearly said that the students of session 2022-24 will be registered in the State Pharmacy Council only when they pass the exit exam. Pharmacy Council of India Registrar cum Secretary Anil Mittal has issued a letter in this regard to the Pharmacy Councils of all the states.

After the instructions of PCI, Jharkhand State Pharmacy Council Registrar Kaushalendra Kumar has also issued instructions in this regard. In which he has said that after passing the Diploma in Pharmacy examination in the session 2022-24, it is mandatory to pass the exit exam. Students will not be registered by Jharkhand State Pharmacy Council without passing the exit exam.

Exit exam will be held in July-September. In a letter sent to the Pharmacy Council of the states, Anil Mittal has said that PCI is going to organize Diploma in Pharmacy exit exam for D Pharma course of 2022-24 in July-September. The exact date of examination will be announced later. Let us tell you that in March 2022 itself, PCI had decided to make exit exam mandatory for those doing Diploma in Pharmacy.

Examination will be conducted through NBEMS

Registrar of Pharmacy Council of India has said that Diploma in Pharmacy exit exam will be conducted by PCI. But this exit exam will be taken through National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). It will be mandatory for all the students passing the Diploma in Pharmacy examination in the session 2022-24 to pass this exit exam. Registration in the State Pharmacy Council can be done only after passing the exit exam.
