The city of Kota, known as the coaching hub, is now becoming infamous due to the increasing cases of student suicides. Statistics show that 22 students preparing for competitive exams have committed suicide in Kota so far this year. In no other year have there been so many suicides of students in Kota. Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra said he was distressed by such incidents. However, he has also given an advice to the students preparing for competitive exams in Kota.

It may be noted that every year more than two lakh students visit the coaching hub Kota to prepare for competitive exams like Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for admission to engineering institutes and National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to medical colleges.
