Wheelchair Insurance: For the first time in the country, wheelchair insurance was done by SBI General

Wheelchair Insurance: As a result of years of hard work and constant follow up with general insurance companies, Armaan Ali has been successful in getting his expensive wheelchair insured. This is the first time that wheelchairs have been insured in India.

Wheelchair insurance for the first time

Armaan Ali, who used to roam around the world, used to fear for the safety of his German wheelchair. Because he keeps traveling to participate in conferences and seminars around the world for the rights of disabled people. But now he is very happy that he has finally got success in getting his expensive wheelchair insured. For this he is thankful to SBI General Insurance which has issued an all risk insurance policy for his wheelchair on 21 July 2023. And on July 20, 2024, this insurance will expire. Armaan Ali’s wheelchair is insured by SBI General Insurance for Rs 426,245. There is also a copy of the insurance policy of ABP Life.

Insured by SBI General Insurance

Armaan Ali has been demanding insurance coverage for wheelchairs and other devices for the last two years. He had also written a letter to 22 insurance companies for this. 9 companies responded to this but finally SBI General Insurance agreed to insure it. Armaan Ali is working as the Executive Director of the National Center for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP), an organization working for disabled people.

Wheelchairs are very expensive

Actually, these essential products are very expensive for the disabled, as well as there is no provision for insurance coverage on these things. Due to this these products become unaffordable for the people. Armaan Ali believes that wheelchairs are very expensive and getting insurance coverage makes it easier to afford the cost of buying and repairing them.
