Wedding Season: 35 lakh weddings are expected in the coming season, business may be worth more than Rs 4.25 lakh crore

Marriage Season: The festive season is expected to be great for businessmen and the economy across the country. But as soon as the festive season ends, the wedding season will begin, which will benefit both businessmen and the country’s economy. The wedding season is going to start from November 23, 2023 and will continue till December 15. And according to an estimate, about 35 lakh marriages are expected to take place across the country in this wedding season. It is estimated that a business of Rs 4.25 lakh will be done this season on everything from wedding shopping to essential services in weddings.  

Confederation of All India Traders (CAT) has released this data. CAT General Secretary Praveen Khandelwal said that CAT’s research arm CAT Research and Trade Development Society has recently conducted a survey among traders and service providers of 20 major cities of the country. According to the survey, more than 3.5 lakh marriages are expected to take place in the capital Delhi this season, due to which there is a possibility of business of about Rs 1 lakh crore in Delhi. During the same period last year, about 32 lakh marriages took place and an estimated expenditure of Rs 3.75 lakh crore was estimated. 

In these marriages, it is estimated that Rs 3 lakh will be spent per marriage in about 6 lakh marriages. In 10 lakh weddings, about Rs 6 lakh will be spent per wedding, in 12 lakh weddings, about Rs 10 lakh per wedding, in 6 lakh weddings, 25 lakh will be spent per wedding, in 50 thousand weddings, 50 lakh will be spent per wedding and in 50 thousand weddings, this will be Which will cost Rs 1 crore or more. In such a situation, during the one month long wedding season, we will see a cash flow of Rs 4.25 lakh crore through purchase of wedding items and services.

According to Praveen Khandelwal, people get their houses repaired and painted before the wedding season. Apart from this, jewellery, clothes, shoes, greeting cards, dry fruits, sweets, fruits, puja material, grocery, food grains, decorative items, home decor items, electric items, electronics and many gift items etc. are generally in demand in weddings. This year, apart from these sectors, good business is expected in other businesses also.

The hotel industry will also benefit greatly from the wedding season. Apart from purchasing the items, a wedding also involves a variety of services including tent decorator, flower arrangement, crockery, catering service, cab service, welcoming of professional groups, vegetable vendors, photographers, videographers, bands etc. Along with this, event management has also emerged as a big business possibility.
