Railway: Railways made the best monthly freight record of 30 months in February

Railway: Indian Railways has recorded the best ever monthly freight loading of 124.03 MT in February. The incremental loading in the month of February has been 4.26 MT i.e. it is 3.55 per cent more than the figures of February last year. This is the best monthly freight traffic of Indian Railways for 30 consecutive months. Indian Railways has achieved incremental loading of 3.18 MT in Coal, 0.94 MT in Fertilizers, 0.66 MT in Balance of Other Goods, 0.28 MT in POL and 0.27 MT in Containers.

Automobile loading also increased
While the increase in automobile loading has been another highlight of the freight business in FY 2022-23 and 5015 rakes have been loaded till February in FY 2022-23 compared to 2966 rakes i.e. an increase of 69 per cent during the same period last year.

Freight moves up steadily
Freight moved NTKM (net tonne kilometres) to 73 billion in February. Which was 70 billion in February ’22 last year. In which an increase of 4.28 percent has been registered. Cumulative freight traffic from Apr’22 to Feb’23 stood at NTKM 82 billion as against 74 billion, a growth of 10.81 per cent over the same period last year.

11 month freight figure up by 15.44%
Indian Railways’ continuous efforts to increase coal supply to power houses in coordination with power and coal ministries, according to railway Has been one of the key features of the performance of the haulage. The loading of coal (both domestic and imported) to power houses increased by 3.39 MT in January, with 45.63 MT of coal being transported as against 42.24 MT in the previous year, ie an increase of 8 per cent. Cumulatively, in the first eleven months of the year, Indian Railways has loaded more than 79.69 MT of additional coal, a growth of over 15.44 per cent over the same period last year.
