Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the world's largest Diamond Bourse in Surat, Gujarat. It is also the world's largest office complex. Apart from this, he also gifted an international airport to Surat. This is expected to give a big boost to trade and business in Surat.

These modern facilities in Diamond Bourse

Earlier on Saturday, PMO had told that PM Modi will visit Gujarat on Sunday, Where he will inaugurate Diamond Bourse in Surat. According to PMO, this will be the world's largest and most modern center for international business of diamonds and jewellery. Both rough and polished diamonds will be traded in Surat Diamond Bourse. Surat Diamond Bourse has facilities like state-of-the-art customs clearance house for import-export, jewelery mall for retail jewelery business, international banking facilities and safe vault.

Name in Guinness Book of World Records

Surat Diamond Bursa's name has already been registered in the Guinness Book of World Records. It has the distinction of being the world's largest office building. This building is built in 67 lakh square feet and about Rs 3,500 crore has been spent on its construction. About 4,500 diamond trading offices can function simultaneously in this building. This entire building has 9 towers of 15 floors each. In this, offices ranging from 300 square feet to 1 lakh square feet have been built. This building has also received platinum rating from the Indian Green Building Council.

Features of the new airport terminal

PM Modi also inaugurated the new airport terminal in Surat. The cost of this terminal is Rs 353 crore. It has been approved as an international airport. AAI Chairman Sanjeev Kumar says that the new terminal will triple the capacity of Surat Airport. It will now have the capacity to handle 1,200 domestic passengers and 600 international passengers during peak hours. The airport can now handle 3000 passengers per hour and 55 lakh passengers in a year.
