PM Ujjwala Yojana: Before the announcement of International Women's Day and Lok Sabha election dates, a big decision has been taken by the Modi government. Modi government has extended the subsidy being given on LPG cylinders for one year. Beneficiaries of PM Ujjwala Yojana will continue to get subsidy on LPG cylinders till 31 March 2025. Prime Minister In the cabinet meeting chaired by Narendra Modi, it has been decided to extend the period of giving subsidy on LPG cylinders by one year.
Informing about the decision, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said that the subsidy scheme of Rs 300 per cylinder being given to the beneficiaries of PM Ujjwala Yojana has been extended till March 31, 2025. He said that due to giving this subsidy, the government will incur a burden of Rs 12000 crore and the beneficiaries of PM Ujjwala Yojana will be given 12 cylinders every year.
Cheap LPG will continue to be available till 31st March
On August 29, 2023, the Modi government had decided to give subsidy on refilling LPG cylinders to the people suffering from expensive LPG. Whose duration was till 31 March 2024. but Lok Sabha elections are about to be announced after which the code of conduct will come into force in the country. In such a situation, it would have been difficult for the government to extend the duration of the scheme. In such a situation, probably in the last cabinet meeting of the second term of the Modi government on Thursday, the decision to give subsidy on LPG cylinders has been extended till March 31, 2025.
Beneficiaries of PM Ujjwala will get cylinder for Rs 603
General customers have to pay Rs 903 for refilling LPG cylinder. Domestic LPG Cylinder costing Rs 1100 is available for Rs 903. Whereas the government gives a total subsidy of Rs 300 to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. That means the beneficiaries of PM Ujjwala Yojana have to pay only Rs 603 for LPG refill. Beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will get the benefit of subsidy on LPG cylinders.
