Two Ahmedabad traders levied Rs 15 crore on a coal importing company

AHMEDABAD: Agarwal Coal Corporation Pvt Ltd, the country’s second-largest coal importer at a time when there is a shortage of coal across the country, has been slapped with Rs 1.5 crore by two Ahmedabad traders. The trader told the company that he has started a paper mill and a power project near Halwad. For this power project, he took two thousand tons of coal from Agarwal Company and did not pay Rs. The company’s marketing manager has lodged a complaint at the Navrangpura police station.

According to General Manager Jignesh Patel, his company imports coal from abroad to various ports of the country and sells it in the country. His company obtains its full details before handing over the coal to any company. A customer code is generated by preparing the KYC of that company or customer. After collecting this information, coal is traded. No transaction is made with the company if any details are incomplete.

Drug case accused nabbed by police, hid in bed to avoid arrest
According to the complaint, the Agrawal company received a call from Anandbhai Patel from Powertech Industries proprietor firm in February this year. He said a paper mill and a power project were being set up near Halwad. It was rumored that the project would require 4,000 tonnes of coal per month. Ordering for coal was also discussed. Jignesh asked Anand Patel for all the documents and information. After completing all the formalities, Jignesh Patel started delivering coal to Anand Patel’s company near the new port of Morbi. Coal trucks were also loaded from Mundra. The check was issued to the company after all the orders, but the stop payment was made when the company deposited the check in the bank.
