Ahmedabad: The city police conducted a special operation. Under the campaign, CID Crime’s Missing Persons Cell and Ahmedabad Police organized a special drive from October 25. Police found 51 people missing. Since 2007, the Missing Persons Cell has helped the CID solve 151 cases of missing persons.

According to figures released by the state CID Crime, 82 people were found missing by the initiative in 2020 and 2021. While 69 people were found missing from 2007 to 2019. Anil Pratham said that no human trafficking gang is active in the state. Most of the people involved in such crimes were outsiders. We have found evidence that such people came to Gujarat from areas of West Bengal, Bangladesh and North India. The search for missing children has been carried out regularly since 2007. A special team has also been formed for this mission. 25 such teams were formed in Ahmedabad city. 18 police stations were then identified where the number of missing children was high. Most of these police stations were in East Ahmedabad.

A total of 1.35 lakh people are missing in the state, according to officials. Of these, 18,000 are still to be found. 50,000 were reported missing from Ahmedabad city alone and 2,371 of them are yet to be traced. The search rate for missing persons from the state is 95.7 percent. While in Ahmedabad city this rate is 96 percent. Apart from this, the rate of missing persons in other states is 86.89 per cent.

Anil Pratham said that in most of the missing cases, it was found that neither the family nor the parents had informed the police when the missing persons returned home. Which led to them being found missing in the police book. Apart from this some women do not contact their parents when they run away from home and start a new life. Even if they contact family or parents, in some cases their parents do not report it to the police.
