The ambassadors of the countries were invited by the Senate to witness the historic debate and vote to become the new members of NATO. President Joe Biden called for the approval of the two former non-military Northern European partners to join the military alliance and to speed up the process of ratification at its bipartisan Congress. Senate Majority Leader and Democrat from New York, Chuck Schumer, said the NATO alliance is our foundation, which has guaranteed democracy to the Western world since the end of World War II.
