Washington: Conservative Party MP Lauren Bobert, who is facing severe criticism for making anti-Muslim remarks against Democratic lawmaker Ilhan Omar from Minnesota, has spoken to Omar over the phone. However, in this regard, both the leaders say that the talks were not positive. It is noteworthy that Bobart compared Omar to a suicide bomber terrorist. The talks on Monday had provided an opportunity for reconciliation between the two leaders, after a statement was issued on Friday requesting talks.
Bobbert suddenly disconnects the call!
Bobbert suddenly hung up the call after Omar demanded a public apology, and the conversation remained incomplete. The incident further damaged the discriminatory image of the Republican Party. This image was created after the attack on the US Parliament (Capital) on 6 January by supporters of Donald Trump. Bobert had earlier apologized, saying “whoever I have offended in the Muslim community”, although he did not apologize directly to Omar. This is the latest case of a Republican MP making personal/personal remarks against another MP.
Both the MPs had issued statements
Although such cases are coming up in the party, but no one is doing anything against it. Earlier this month, Arizona lawmaker Paul Goser was criticized over a violent video. At the same time, in February, he was fired from the parliamentary committee for comments by Georgia MP Marjorie Taylor Greeney. After a phone conversation on Monday, Omar and Bobert issued statements criticizing each other.
Bobert vents anger on Instagram
“I believe in talking to those who disagree with you in a respectful manner, but not when the differences are based on hatred or other negative reasons,” Omar said. I thought it right to end that useless phone call midway. Bobert has vented his anger in a video on Instagram. The whole matter started about a week ago with the posting on Facebook of a video of Bobert’s conversation with people in his area, in which he mentioned the conversation with Omar. However, Omar says that such talks did not take place between the two.
