Joe Biden On China: US President Joe Biden has indicated to improve relations with China. He said on Sunday (May 21) that relations between Washington and Beijing should be restored very soon. Earlier in the beginning of the year, America shot down a Chinese spy balloon. This balloon was flying over sensitive US military bases, after which relations between the two countries have remained tense.
US President Joe Biden himself believes that the relationship between the two countries deteriorated in a month. Earlier, during the G-20 summit held in Bali, he had a conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Significantly, a diplomatic dispute broke out between the world’s two largest economies in February regarding the spy balloon. After this incident US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had to cancel his visit to China.
‘Balloon affair gone bad’
Referring to the Bali conference, Joe Biden said that then both China and America had agreed that there should be an open hotline between them, but everything went wrong in the spy balloon affair. In a press conference after the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan on Sunday, US President Biden said that the situation could be normal very soon.
China-US relations will improve
During the press conference Joe Biden said, "We are not thinking of separating from China. We want to make our relations with China risk-free and diversified. He further said that soon relations with China would cool down. Soon the relations between China and America will start to recover.
