Three-party talks to form next government in Germany in final stage: Green Party

Berlin, Nov 24 (AP) The three parties negotiating to form Germany’s next government will finalize a coalition deal on Wednesday. The environmentalist Green Party gave this information in a statement.

The Social Democratic Party has been in talks with the Green Party and the Free Democrats since a modest victory on 26 September in the national election. If party members approve the proposal in the coming weeks, the three-party coalition will replace the current Grand Alliance and outgoing Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democrats Party.

Merkel was not vying for a fifth term. Incumbent Finance Minister and Social Democratic Party leader Olaf Schultz is likely to replace him.

Some details have emerged from the closed-door conversation. These also include how the parties will distribute portfolios to cabinet members.
