Rosetta Stone : Egypt demands Britain to return Rosetta Stone taken from our country

Rosetta Stone :  Following the demand of Indians to return the Kohinoor diamond which is in British possession to India, the demand for the return of the Rosetta Stone which is now in British possession  Egypt (Egypt) has done. The head of Egypt’s archeology department made this demand to Britain. The Rosetta Stone is currently in the  British Museum. A signature campaign was launched in Egypt to get the Rosetta Stone back. 

The Rosetta Stone is dated to 196 BC. In 1799, Napoleon’s army learned about the Rosetta Stone. The Rosetta Stone was taken over by Britain after Napoleon’s defeat at the Treaty of Alexandria. Then this stone was kept in the British Museum in 1802. This stone has messages written in three different languages.

The Rosetta Stone is dated to 196 BC. In 1799, Napoleon’s army learned about the Rosetta Stone in northern Egypt. This stone was sent to Britain in the Treaty of Alexandria in 1801. Frenchman Jean Francois Champollion deciphered the inscription in 1822 using Demotic and Ancient Greek. It helped  understand the ancient Egyptian language and culture.

The head of Egypt’s archeology department had previously demanded the Rosetta Stone.  At present all countries are trying to return the artefacts brought by Britain from the countries under British rule. On the other hand, a spokesman for the British Museum said that there has been no request from the Egyptian government to get the Rosetta Stone back.
