After the attacks by fundamentalists on Hindu temples in Pakistan, now the eyes of thieves have also been fixed. There has been a horrific theft in an ancient Hindu temple at Kotri in Sindh province, infamous for religious conversion. It is being told that the thieves stole three silver necklaces and cash kept in a donation box from the idols of the deities. Sindh Police has registered a case against unknown thieves under various sections on the Tahrir of Bhagwandas, the caretaker priest of the temple.

The Office of the Chief Minister of Sindh province has also issued a statement saying that Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has been informed about the incident. It is being told that the thieves entered through the roof of the temple. After which he stole the necklace decorated on the idols. All the sculptures were kept in glass frames. The priest told that the weight of the necklace was more than 10 tola.

The priest’s Tahrir mentions the theft of three silver necklaces and Rs 25,000 cash from the temple. Local SSP Javed Baloch said that the temple management suspected someone from the area where the temple is located. He denied reports of suspects desecrating the deities or the temple during the theft.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s National Commission for Minorities Chairman Chella Ram Keolani and Sindh Minority Affairs Minister Gyanchand Esrani have ordered the SSP to register an FIR and bring the guilty to justice. He said that the incident took place at a time when the Hindu community is making preparations to celebrate the festival of Diwali. Describing the incident as “unbearable”, he directed the police to tighten the security of temples in the district.

There has already been an incident of theft
This is not the first incident of theft in a temple in Kotri. In January this year, thieves stole gold jewelery and a crown worth lakhs of rupees from the Guru Valmiki temple. Kotri police station had registered a case of theft against unknown thieves at that time. However, no arrest has been made so far.
