Journalist shot dead outside Press Club in Lahore

Lahore, Jan 24 (PTI) A senior Pakistani journalist was shot dead by unidentified people outside the Lahore Press Club on Monday. police gave this information.

A senior Punjab police officer told PTI that while Hasnain Shah was parking his car outside the Press Club, two men on a motorcycle fired indiscriminately at him, killing him on the spot. He was about 40 years old.

He said both the attackers managed to escape from the congested area. Shah, a Lahore resident, was a crime correspondent with Capital TV. He is survived by his wife and two children.

“We are investigating reports that he had enmity with some people,” the official said.

Various journalist organizations in Pakistan have condemned the killing of Shah and demanded the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government to arrest his killers.

According to UN figures, 85 journalists have been killed in Pakistan since 1993, including four in 2021.
