Meanwhile, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif criticized President Dr. Arif Alvi for returning the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Bill, 2023 on 8 April.

PM Shahbaz even told the President that he is a worker of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He said that the purpose of this bill is to reduce the power of the Chief Justice. This includes suo moto and constitution of benches. Meanwhile, Imran Khan’s PTI strongly criticized the Sharif government’s move to pass the law, saying it was an “attack on the judiciary”.

Returning the bill is most unfortunate

According to Pakistani media Geo News, the Prime Minister made a tweet several hours after the bill was returned by President Alvi. Said in the tweet, "The return of the Supreme Court Bill duly passed by the Parliament on behalf of President Alvi is most unfortunate."

Let us tell you that President Dr. Arif Alvi has returned many bills since the formation of the Pakistan Democratic Movement government in April last year. Also refused to administer oath to several members of the federal cabinet including Prime Minister Shahbaz. President Arif Alvi is the leader of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party.

Arif Alvi sought advice from Imran Khan

Arif Alvi had sought advice from PTI President Imran Khan on several important matters including the appointment of Army Chief. At the same time, in a tweet on this, PM Shehbaz Sharif said that the President has let down his office through his actions as he follows the orders of the PTI chief more than the Constitution and his office.

Geo News reported that through his conduct, he has dishonored the prestigious office he holds by working as a PTI worker, which is more important than the constitution and his office dedicated to Imran Khan.
