Nirav Modi Extradition Case: Nirav Modi, accused of the biggest fraud in India’s banking history, is now dependent on pie-pie. He defrauded Punjab National Bank (PNB) of thousands of crores. Then he fled the country in 2018 fearing legal action. He went to live in Britain. However, even there the fear of arrest continued to haunt him. There the court initiated action against him, in exchange for which he accepted to pay the fine.

Now it is being told that that fugitive businessman Nirav Modi does not have enough money to pay the fine of 150,247 pounds (about Rs 1.47 crore). For this he has to borrow money. According to The Times of India report, Nirav Modi (51) appeared at the Barkingside Magistrate Court in East London on Thursday via video link from HMP Wandsworth. where he defended himself without a lawyer on the fact that he had not paid the costs of £150,247 for his appeal against extradition. 

The owner of thousands of crores is now unable to pay even the fine
Nirav Modi (51) had lost this case in the London court. The court had ordered on January 9 this year that he (Nirav Modi) would have to pay the cost of his extradition appeal within 28 days. However, the surprising thing is that he is not even able to pay the cost of this fine. He says that he does not even have money to meet his expenses. 

According to media reports, earlier he had agreed to pay £10,000 (about Rs 9.7 lakh) a month. Offered, but was rejected by the penalty team, after which he was dragged to court. 

He did not tell the court his London address
It has come to know that when Nirav Modi was asked his name, date of birth and permanent address in the London court, he told the address of India. The court then asked his UK address and he said that he did not have any. It is believed that Nirav Modi did not reveal his UK address because he was afraid that Indian agencies could arrest him from there or he could face some other danger. 

Banks were defrauded to the tune of Rs 13,000 crore
It may be noted that Nirav Modi has been accused of defrauding India’s Punjab National Bank (PNB) to the tune of Rs 13,000 crore. He had taken a loan of thousands of crores from the banks here. When he got a glimpse of the action, he left India on January 1, 2018 and went abroad. Later, Punjab National Bank (PNB) registered a case of fraud of 280 crores against Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi and other accused. After that 5 February 2018- CBI started investigating the scam. 

On the escape of Nirav Modi, there was a lot of uproar between the central government and the opposition parties. Opponents Narendra Modi of being lax on Nirav Modi and even helping him. Rahul Gandhi had given the statement ‘Why are all Modi thieves’.

Here, the Government of India was taking action against him in the country, on the other hand, a heavy fine was imposed on Nirav Modi in London as well. The Government of India tried to bring him to India and take legal action against him, on which Nirav Modi went into hiding.

Said- I will never be able to get out of jail if I return to India
When mentioned about being extradited to India, he said, ‘I don’t think I will be released from jail’ . He said that his life would be in danger in India, he would not go there.
