Lamichhane’s party had 20 seats
But the Prime Minister declined to do so, according to the newspaper. Lamichhane was appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister on December 26 last year. Prior to that, his party, the RSP, had emerged as the fourth largest force in parliament, winning 20 seats in the federal election. Television personality Lamichhane hit the headlines in 2013 when he tried to create a Guinness World Record by hosting the longest talk show.
What will be the effect on Prachanda government?
Lamichhane told a press conference after the joint meeting of the Central Committee of the RSP that in the past also attempts were made to embroil him in many controversies but he was always successful in coming out of them. RSP’s decision to pull out of the coalition government will not make any difference to the political future of Prime Minister Prachanda. According to the newspaper, this is because even though the RSP has decided to recall its ministers, the party will continue to support this government.
