According to the Excise and Taxation Department, the PTI chief’s old house in Zaman Park has been demolished while a new house, owned by him and his sisters, has been built in its place. The department said last month Khan was asked for the house records, which he has submitted. According to the Provincial Tax Collection Authority after assessment, the ousted prime minister was sent a luxury tax challan of Rs 14,40,000, the last date for submission of which is Monday (May 22).
Notice has already been sent
According to the department, cricketer-turned-politician Imran has received the notice. The PTI chairman had earlier filed his taxes regularly. But if he fails to do so this time, another notice will be sent to him as per the law. The department had last month issued a notice in the name of Shaukat Khanum, Imran’s late mother, for assessment of luxury house tax. In the notice issued, Khan was directed to pay Pakistan’s dues of Rs 36 lakh under luxury tax.
Notice was sent in the name of Zaman Park
According to a notification accessed by The News, the notice was given in the name of Khan’s late mother Shaukat Khanum’s Zaman Park residence. His mother passed away about 38 years ago in 1985 due to cancer. The property is still in his name. According to The News, two persons belonging to the Excise and Taxation team reached Zaman Park to serve the notice.
