Explosion in Somalia’s capital

Mogadishu, Nov 25 (AP) A massive explosion rocked the Somali capital, Mogadishu, on Thursday.

A plume of smoke was seen rising in Mogadishu after the early morning explosion. Amin Ambulance Service said fifteen injured people had been taken to hospital. The blast happened near a school. There was no immediate confirmation of the death toll.

The extremist group al-Shabaab said in a statement by its Andalusian radio that it targeted Western officials who were guarding an African Union peacekeeping convoy. Al-Qaeda-linked groups frequently carry out attacks in the capital.
