What is the Ashiana housing scandal?

Aashiyana Housing Scheme was launched in 2011, then the Ashiana-e-Iqbal Awas Yojana was introduced as a low-cost housing scheme, but soon allegations of irregularities began to surface on this scheme. Seven years into the scheme, in 2018, several high-profile politicians were accused of alleged corruption, leading to an investigation by the anti-corruption watchdog. The accused also included PM Shehbaz, who allegedly misused his powers during his tenure as the chief minister of Punjab, in an inquiry related to the Punjab Land Development Company (PLDC).
