Researchers at the US-based La Jolla Institute for Immunology (LJI) measured the effectiveness of four anti-Covid vaccines (Pfizer-BioNtech, Moderna, Johnson and Novavax) in adults who have been fully vaccinated but did not receive a booster dose. happened. The researchers found that most of the T-cells produced by the vaccine are also effective against the Omicron form.

Shane Crotty, a professor at LJI and co-author of the research, said that these T-cells will not protect a person from becoming infected, but in most cases they will be able to prevent the infection from becoming severe.

Elba Griffoni, a member of the research team, said that the four vaccines included in the study have been found to be effective against Omicron and their effect lasts for six months after vaccination.

Researchers said that 15 mutations (genetic mutations) present in the omechron form prevent more B-cells from being made against it. This means that the body produces antibodies at a slower rate to deal with the Omicron infection, but it is not completely incapable of fighting it.
