UP Politics: Sunil Bansal is dependent on UP again, will BJP be able to do the charisma of 2014 in 2024 elections?
Lucknow : The BJP in Uttar Pradesh is once again counting on its national general secretary Sunil Bansal to ensure the party’s victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. BJP has appointed Bansal as the UP in-charge of Maha Sampark Abhiyan. The campaign will run for a month marking the completion of nine years of the BJP at the Center under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This campaign is being seen as a way to speed up the election preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. This is the second time that the central leadership of the BJP in the state has entrusted Bansal with an important responsibility. Earlier, he was made in-charge of BJP to look after organizational matters on 16 Lok Sabha seats. The party had lost these seats in the 2019 general elections.

Bansal, an organizational leader who joined the party at the national level last year after his successful stint as state general secretary (organisation) in Uttar Pradesh, is currently BJP in-charge of Odisha, Telangana and West Bengal. Sources said the party’s central leadership has posted Bansal back to Uttar Pradesh considering his vast experience and micromanagement skills.

In 2014, under the leadership of Shah and Bansal, the BJP won 71 seats.

It was under the direct supervision of Amit Shah and Bansal that the BJP won 71 of the state’s 80 Lok Sabha seats for the first time in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Later he handled the organizational affairs of the UP BJP. BJP came to power for the first time in 2017 with a huge majority and then retained it in 2022. A senior party leader said that the UP BJP leadership is in full command of the state after the party’s massive victory in the recently concluded municipal elections, but organizational strength from the central leadership was much needed.

BJP Vice President to complete three years

Bansal’s strategic rise in Uttar Pradesh comes amid the much-anticipated organizational reshuffle in the BJP’s central leadership. BJP Vice President Radha Mohan Singh is about to complete his three years as UP in-charge in November. Sources said that if Singh is replaced, Bansal could be one of the main contenders for the post.
