Muzaffarnagar: Muzaffarnagar district’s Khatauli Municipality President Shahnawaz alias Lalu, who was declared victorious in the counting of votes for the UP civic elections, has been accused of contesting elections by hiding his caste. Former chairman of Khatauli Municipality Paras Jain alleged in front of the media on Friday that Shahnawaz contested the election by fraudulently getting the OBC caste certificate made. On Saturday, complaining to the officers, the former chairman has demanded a ban on the swearing-in of Shahnawaz.

Paras Jain, former chairman of Khatauli municipality, alleges that Shahnawaz alias Lalu belongs to the general caste. This time the post of Khatauli Municipality President was reserved for the Other Backward Classes. It was alleged that Shahnawaz alias Lalu contested the election by cheating the administration and the Election Commission by making caste certificate of OBC category. Paras Jain claimed to have gathered strong evidence against Shahnawaz alias Lalu. It is said that Shahnawaz, who contested and won the election as a Rashtriya Lok Dal candidate, has got an OBC certificate of Kalal caste made. The District Magistrate has demanded an inquiry.

Investigation will be done as per rules

However, the administration has assured to conduct an inquiry. However, on behalf of the DM’s office, Paras Jain has been told that these facts should have been brought to the fore while objecting to the nomination. Only then the application would be rejected. Now to find out the truth in the allegation, action will be taken after investigating as per rules. Shahnawaz says that all the allegations leveled against him are wrong. Everything will be clear in the investigation.
