Lucknow: The Model Code of Conduct has come into force as soon as the dates for the Uttar Pradesh Urban Body Elections (UP Nikay Chunav 2023) are announced. Voting for the first phase will be held on May 4 and the second on May 11. The counting of votes will take place on May 13. Lucknow district administration has become active as soon as the dates are announced. District Election Officer and DM Lucknow Suryapal Gangwar has given instructions to remove the propaganda material hoardings, banners, posters etc. while running an intensive campaign. On the other hand, the District Election Officer told that elections are to be held for mayor, councilor in 110 wards and chairman of nagar panchayat in 10 nagar panchayats as well as member of nagar panchayat. There are total 31 lakh 15 thousand 895 voters. A total of 776 polling stations and 2729 polling places have been constructed for the elections in Lucknow. Out of 776 polling stations, 122 centers have been classified as sensitive, 126 centers as ultra sensitive and 41 as ultra sensitive plus. Along with this, the district has been divided into 35 zones and 130 sectors.

A route chart has also been prepared for the election. At the same time, he said that violation of the Model Code of Conduct will not be tolerated. Strict legal action will be taken against the violators under the Representation of the People Act.

Along with this, in order to conduct the body elections in a fair, safe and orderly manner, the in-charge and assistant in-charge officers have been instructed to discharge their respective responsibilities with complete honesty, fairness and transparency in a time-bound manner. Suryapal Gangwar has also given instructions to inspect polling booths. Along with this, he has also given instructions to provide information about other election materials, stationery preparations and completion of the process of tender etc.

The District Election Officer has instructed to inspect the nomination site once again. He said that if any deficiency is found on the spot, get it rectified immediately. The officer-in-charge along with the police officer should inspect the enrollment sites and ensure that barricading should be done in 200 meter radius during enrollment. Along with giving strict instructions, he said that any laxity in the election work will not be tolerated.
